Bolivian Tourist Visa for Indian Passport Holder

Hi,
I am planning to travel to Bolivia in 2011 and need to know if I need a visa, with my Indian passport.
There are no Bolivian embassies/ consulates in the country I live in and the info. that I have gathered from the internet is very confusing and contradictory.
Can I get my visa from Lima, Peru, while I am travelling. And if so, how long will it take?
Would be obliged if there's anyone out there who has had an experience and can guide me.

Thanks
Sasha

travel to Bolivia is easy as long as you have at least six months of validity on you passport before expiration before you land and try to enter Bolivia. the airline may not allow you to board if you do not to avoid a fine.
you can purchase a five year travel visa at the entry point which is a sticker and a stamp in your passport. if your passport expires before five years you will have to carry both the expired passport with the current unexpired stame for bolivian enrty and the new passport. be advised the visa only allows a 90 concecutive day visit so you would have to leave Bolivia and reenter if you planned to stay longer than 90 days unless you obtain a special purpose visa.
be prepared to pay an exit tax if you are from the us or travelling to the us and have the tax stamp on your airline ticket before you board. the exit stamp is for the ticket to board and is not for your passport.

I have been thoroughly disgusted as i have traversed many long ardurous years of navigating us/bolivian immigration hurdles so feel free to ask any more questions.
After enduring all that i have all i want more than anything is to help others avoid my fate.
good luck.

jeff_flarity: Welcome to Fodors. Just an FYI. This thread is from last year and sasha_g apparently got her visa since her trip was back in May. Unfortunately - no trip report posted yet :(

Hi,We are Indian passport holders living in Seattle -WA. We are planning to travel to Bolivia in Sept 2011. We are trying to find out if we can get a visa on arrival or we need a tourist visa from one of the embassy in US?

Any help is appreciated as we can't seem to get much information for Indian passport holders.

Thanks,
Aditi
