Bogota hotel question

We will be in Bogota for three nights in early March with our 21 y/o son, nephew and his wife (30’s). A safe and convenient location are top priority. Cleanliness (no bugs) a close second. Deciding between Hotel de la Opera and EK Hotel. Both look nice but they are in different locations. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I don’t know either hotel but the Opera is in La Candeleria which I would say is a better location for a short stay. We loved Bogotá and wished we had had longer there but it was our last stop on a much longer trip around Colombia.

We must have stayed at a dozen or more places and dont recall bugs at any !

if this is your first trip then I would highly recommend taking one of the free walking tours on your first morning. A great intro to the city and our guide pro a lot of invaluable tips, suggestions on where to eat etc

Thank you! Many of the Airbnb reviews we read mentioned roaches. yuck! We are going to Medellin for four days and Bogota for four days. please let me know if you have any tips to share, restaurant or activity recommendations, etc. Appreciate your time!

Here is a link to our blog of our time in Colombia which may provide a few ideas. there are posts for Bogotá and a couple about Medellin https://accidentalnomads.com/category/colombia/ . They cobbler some of teh places we visited

There are also posts re Zipiquira salt cathedral which can be done as a day trip from Bogotá. There is also one for Villa de Lleyva which is a bit further and probably needs an overnight.

Can’t recall many of the restaurants we ate in ( TBF Colombian food is not the greatest in SA!) though my wife did a post about food in Medellin. If there over the weekend then I would definitely head to the Food Truck street behind the Museo de Arte Moderno
