BOCA vs River Plate need some advise

Want to attend the Boca vs River Plate game April 19th. I of course want to attend with a tour group. Can anyone recommend a group to attend the game with. Has anyone used BsAs4u. Is is safe for my wife and I to attend we are both in our late 20's.

Thanks

If safety is a factor (and it should be) Tangol could be right for you.

Check them out at: http://www.tangol.com/eng/football_matches.aspx

However, I see that game (which is the TOP game of the season)is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, to put it mildly.

Have a great time in our town with your wife.

How often does Boca and River Plate play each other? Tangol told me 400USD per person that is crazy. That is for the lower section with assisgned seats. BsAs4u another company quoted me USD 200 per person to sit in the general section. Do the locals pay these kind of prices or is this just because I am a tourist.

baires4u Mar 25th, 2009 01:13 PM

i found a place that is selling tickets for 169usd. I think it is a little steep, but this is the biggest game of the year, so i kinda understand. let me know if you are interested...

avrooster Mar 25th, 2009 01:14 PM

They play twice a year, at least, maybe 4 times a year. I'm not sure, not being a soccer fan. But I DO know this is the most sought-after soccer ticket of the year.

The locals could be members of the clubs and pay little or nothing.

The prices of BsAs4u are about the same as Tangol's, as far as I can see, but Tangol is better known.

I would love to book with Tangol however they do not sell tickets to the general section which is cheaper as they say it is members only. BsAs4u which works with Red Buenos Aires sells tickets in the general section with a guide for 200USD per ticket. I think I am starting to understand the locals are members of the football club and normaly you can buy members tickets because they do not always go to the game but htis game they are all going thus tickets are really expensive. Seems like very good luck I am in BA for this game. Boca is as I can tell the most famous club in Argentina .

I hope you DO understand that the general section MAY not be as safe as the seated (platea) tickets Tangol sells. Which COULD be the reason Tangol only sells those tickets.

I have been unable to access www.redbuenosaires.com

Do you have a better link for it?

i used b sas4u for a boca game not that long ago, and everything went really well. nice people, i would trust them...

It looks like there are a few of us here that might be interested in going to the Boca River game on April 19th.

We're visiting from Canada, and are hoping to attend this game (the most sought after football ticket in Argentina of the entire year).

Here's what I've found out so far...

Yes, if you want to sit in the 'Platea' section, you need to go with a tour or guide to get you in (they're 'members only' seats).

The going rate for this appears to be $375-$400 USD per person. I've contacted a few of the people who post on Buenos Aires Craigslist. They all seem really nice, and almost apologetic that the prices are so high for this particular game.

Red Buenos Aires was the cheapest so far, at $375.

Now, for the 'Populares' section, or general admission, I've read everything from 'can be very dangerous' to 'blown out of proportion'. I'm really not sure what to believe.

For this section you don't need a guide, and ticket prices seem to be going for $165 for scalped tickets.

I've done some research about just showing up at the stadium and trying to get these same tickets. It seems to be possible, but I'm not sure about this particular game.

If anyone else finds out anything, please post it here, and we can help each other out.

Google BsAs4U for info and you can chat with a live person which I did and she told me the general seats were safe with a guide I would not stand in the general section without a guide as I can get pretty roudy I hear. Also the benifit of a guide is after the game they help you get out of the stadium and home safe as Boca as I have read can be danagerous esp is someone is not happy with the results of the game. Thanks for all the posts, Home hotel where I am staying in BA told me that the general section is safe with a guide.

What can a guide really do during a soccer riot if things get out of control?

avrooster Mar 27th, 2009 10:57 AM

I have feeling that MAYBE part of the money paid for those expensive tourist tickets go to the bosses of what we call the "barra brava" (the rioters).

Therefore, said bosses would want to protect the people who feed them.

The guide would be there to tell them: Hey, we are with Tangol (or whoever), we pay you every week, help us get out of here!

Just an idea. I don't like soccer much. Some people say rugby is "a game for hooligans played by gentlemen". My version is: "soccer is a game for hooligans, played by hooligans". LOL!!!

A guide can increase your safety because for one he can speak Spanish and can communicate better than you can. This could be helpful if someone misinterprets your behavior during the game as disrespectful to them ect. For that matter the guide can clear up confusion that can occur when two people attempt to converse with one another in non-native tongues. Also the guide having gone to games is able to interpret when the crowd is becoming hostel and can get you to safety faster than you may be able to yourself again secondary to this language and cultural barrier we all have when we travel to foreign counties. Also the guide is more familiar with the layout of the stadium and the city and is able to get you out of the stadium and back on the bus for home faster than you may be able to yourself. This may be important because Boca is not the best part of town and someone is inevitability angry with the results of the game.

Of course if there is a mass riot that just suddenly breaks out no one can do anything.

I am not sure why this is a big deal the guide is only like $35USD more than the ticket itself a small price to pay even to just have someone explain what is happening in your language, pick up your tickets for you and transport you back home.

We're trying to get tickets to the game (me + girlfriend).
$199.99USD is the best we have found so far.

We've heard you can go to the stadium the day before and buy tickets yourself, so we'll keep researching that idea.

Else, maybe we could get a group of us together and barter with a tour company?? or maybe just go....safty in numbers and all...

Keep us up to date with any findings...

Hi,
I saw tangol is selling Boca vs River on 400U$S.
BsAs4U is selling only ticket in 165U$S and ticket to River's in 145U$S. They are also selling a full tour to Boca in 200U$S and to River's side in 180U$S.

sababa Apr 15th, 2009 08:16 AM

I'm not sure if Tangol is better or not, I just know that BsAs4U is newer in the market and that they don't do the tour themselves, is an external provider who does it (that's what they said at least), but they all attend my emails very kindly at any time and to me that means a lot. Besides, I wouldn't take the chance of standing in the line to get the tickets, at least not for this game, I believe their are all sold already to Boca's friends and hooligans...

Regarding the safety, last time I went to see Boca vs Argentinos, I felt safe somehow but safety is also a relative concept specially in SA, I went ready to a war ;) Anyway I really think the problem is after the game because i know in a past game there were some shootings between the fans outside the Bombonera, so I don't want to be wondering outside the stadium trying to get a taxi because on that game I was we bought only the tickets and we had to walk until Plaza de Mayo, everybody was walking and it was impossible to get any kind of transportation, I really regret not to get a tour because I was reaaaally tired after 5 hours of jumping and standing there.

Good luck in the game!
