Best Torres Del Paine Hikes
 

I am driving to Torres Del Paine in a rental car from April 23-26 I plan to take it easy the day I arrive on the 23 and the day I leave on the 26 thus I only have two full days the 24 and 25 to do day hikes. I am staying the entire time at Lodge Cerro Guido (about 40km from the park) Can anyone suggest which day hikes would be best for the 24 and 25th within Torres Del Paine park. I would appreciate it thanks

Definitely the hike to the base of the Towers, as long as its a clear day.

How many miles round trip is the hike to the towers? Also I have read that at the end you have to climb up some boulders (how many and how long does it take)

Does anyone know how I find out the ferry schedule in order to hike Glacier Gray I heard that to start the hike you have to be ferried across the river or lake.

Hi Matt it's about 10-11 miles roundtrip from Las Torres to the Paine Towers. The last 45 minutes to 1 hour, more or less, is the boulder field (it is a moraine, there is a marked trail and really anyone with reasonably good knees can do it, poles will be helpful). Average hiking time is around 8 hours RT. I took more time coming back down the moraine than I did going up.

According to a Chilean guide book that I have, the catamaran crosses Lago Pehoe at noon from Pudeto (the south side) and returns at 12:30 pm. The company is called Catamaran Hielos Patigonicos.

There are also crossings of Lago Grey by zodiac. I don't know the schedule, or if the Lago Grey II runs in off season. Most lodgings have that information.

Last year I did the hike to the Torres, the hike to Grey Glacier, and the hike to the Ferrier lookout. They were all nice, but it is hard to compare due to the weather being different each day. We were in an out-and-out blizzard on the Ferrier hike, so we couldn't see much of anything. All the guides told us that on even a halfway decent day, the view from up there is amazing. They were happy to take us, because usually the guests aren't interested in that one due to the incline.
