Best month to visit Peru

We are planning to spend up to 3 weeks in Peru. We have read that there is more rain in certain months. We are thinking of going either in March or April. Would one month be better than the other or does it not matter? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Late April or early May when rains taper off

for Cusco still very green.

Coast really does not matter much very little rain there.

April would probably be better for Lima & coastal weather (before the fog sets in) but you may get better airfares in May.

Thanks so much for your answers. We will look into these months.
Am sure we will have more questions as we proceed with our plans.

In September of 2006, I traveled to Peru through Grand Circle Travel (Boston). There were 12 of us who went to Lima and Cusco and onward to Machu Picchu. The weather was in the low 60s and cloudy in Lima during our four day stay but was pleasant the rest of the way--sun and simply beautiful.

Most of us wore our light clothing elsewhere except in Lima where I think we wore light jackets and/or sweaters. <Check out the general weather patterns at www.weatherunderground.com. You'll get a general picture although as you know our weather patterns throughout the world have not always been 100% consistent during the past 10 years anyway.>

Check www.wunderground.com for easy accessibility. I went to the site that I recommended and typed in Lima. Up came my information along with more specifics from the aforementioned website. I think you'll like it for all of your travels.

Thank you Eddwarm for the information. Good to know what kind of clothing to pack. I am planning to go this coming fall. I hope the floods are over by then. What are the daylight hours there in September or October?
