Beaches

What beach would you recommend in Argentina?

I like all our beaches, such as Mar del Plata, which is a large beach town and many smaller places North and South of it.

All these places will be crowded in Jan. and Feb.

So, it's a matter of taste. The water is comparatively cold, not at all like a beach in the Caribbean and the weather is fickle.

Have a great time in our country.

Argentineans have a weakness for Uruguayan beaches this must mean something. The matter in fact the best houses in Punta del Este as well as in other popular Uruguayan beaches belong to Argentineans, and they are the NO. 1 renters and guests in hotels.
Personally I do prefer them too. There are nice beaches on the Argentinean Atlantic coast but at the end of the day they are far from Buenos Aires, Punta del Este is only aprox 190 miles from BUenos Aires. A short flight away.

We've got a 2 week trip planned for next year (late Feb into March) and we're going to stay in BA for a week, then hit a beach. I've debated on whether to stay in Argentina or go to Uruguay and I think we'll go to Uruguay. Everything I've read seems to indicate that the beaches are 'better' in Uruguay. That's my plan for now - but since it's not for several months, I could change my mind!
