Argentina Exploration Journeys - Our best travel experience ever!

We had our honeymoon trip in Argentina and it was our best trip ever!! We visited the falls, glaciers in Patagonia, wineries in Mendoza and BA (where I took some tango lessons!). It's amazing everything you can see in just one country!

We stayed in Puerto Madero at the Hilton. The location is superb! We had the port 1 block away, Cabaña Las Lilas 2 blocks away (oh boy, what a fabulous steak and wine we enjoyed there!!! 5 stars meal!)
In BA we did a fabulous tour with an historian guide, visited Recoleta, San Telmo, La Boca, Plaza de Mayo and Palermo. We also took a “Hidden Buenos Aires” tour which took us to the off-the-beaten path of BA. We visited the “Jardin Japones” (Japanese Garden) and the Rose Garden in Palermo by our own. We highly recommend this visit!

We took 3 private tango classes with Roberto, a fabulous tango maestro, and after our last class we enjoyed a very exclusive and top-notch tango show at Gala Tango (super, super, super!). We then went to La Ideal (a milonga at Suipacha 384) and had a blast doing our newly learned tango moves!

In Mendoza we had 2 full day wine tours. The gourmet meals we had in the wineries were some of the best meals in Argentina!! We visited Norton, Achaval Ferrer and Ruca Malen (lunch was at Ruca Malen). The other day we visited the Valle de Uco (high altitude wineries) and visited Salentein (WOW! Impressive place), Andeluna (were we had lunch) and O’Fournier. We drank soooo much wine, it was a perfect wine experience and Mariela our guide was lovely! In between both wine tours we did a full day horseback riding at Estancia La Alejandra. It took us about an hour to get to the Estancia but it was so worth it! We had a beautiful horseback riding day. The lunch was just ok. We stayed at the Park Hyatt Mendoza, which is a fantastic hotel located in front of a beautiful park.

In Iguazú we stayed at the Amerian Iguazu, a beautiful hotel at the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. We had a room with view to the river, it was very nice but as it was our honeymoon we decided to upgrade to a suite. The suite was amazing, with a jacuzzi, and a balcony with a great view! We had private tours to both side of the falls and our guide Valdecir was great! The Argentinean side tour took a full day, we visited the Devil’s Throat and Valdecir took us there very early in the morning, well before the group tours arrived, so we could enjoy that fantastic place only with just other few travelers! We did the lower and upper boardwalk, and did a very exciting boat ride that took us very close to the falls, we were completely soaked! The ride was very short (I think that it was just 10 minutes) but it was very worth it!
Our Travel agency also arranged a visit to the Tropicana Bird Park, which is the largest bird park in Latin America. The place was one-of-a-kind. We saw birds from all over the world, many endangered of extinction. On our visit we got to a wooden bridge where while standing there we were approached by 4 Toco Toucans which were less than 1 feet from us, that was amazing!!

At the Glaciers Region in El Calafate we did 2 tours. We stayed at the Posada Los Alamos hotel. The rooms were not so large as in the other hotels, but the hotel was very nice and with an excellent location. We did a glacier trekking at the Perito Moreno Glacier (super exciting!!!), visited the panoramic boardwalks in front of the glacier, and took a full day glaciers navigation to visit the Onelli, Spegazzini and Upsala glaciers. Our travel agency booked us at the VIP cabin of the boat and we were SO grateful for that! We could enjoy a way better experience and views because we were in the VIP cabin.

Fred of www.argentinaexplorationjourneys.com organized our trip. I have traveled to many, many countries and never in my life I felt so well taken care for by any other tour operator, and with all the finest details of the trip so well arranged. Fred answered all our questions before the trip, and after we book the trip we received a Travel Booklet which was a 95 page personalized booklet full of information for our trip (weather, restaurant suggestions, clothing suggestions, tips, and lots of useful information which made a difference for our trip experience). We have never received anything similar to our Travel Booklet. We also appreciated the 24/7 local host we had during our trip which was just a phone call away! We highly recommend Argentina Exploration Journeys and Fred to anyone planning a trip to Argentina!
