Argentina/Chilie - getting from Torres del Paine to Mendoza
 

Hello,

Would anyone be able to help with how to travel from Torres del Paine to Mendoza? Is it possible to do it in less than 2 days? We are trying to keep costs down and finding it very difficult to navigate bus websites in both Argentina and Chilie. Not fussed what route or country we travel through, would just like to get there as quickly as possible. Is there a website that will help you work out routes with multiple stops that anyone has come across? We can figure out bits, but not the all important bit in the middle!

If you come up through Chile you are really going to have to fly a portion between Punta Arenas and Puerto Montt. Bussing the same route can take 30 hours. Once you have landed in Puerto Montt you can get an overnight bus to Santiago (12 hrs) and another bus over to Mendoza (7 hrs off season) or fly. By bus through Argentina is longer in the end and you don't have to take any flights but it make work out to be more expensive in the end depending on the price of buses.

You can work out costs on bus websites like Turbus (although prices vary by time of year) and maybe Plataforma 10 for Argentine buses, although not all are on it.

You are looking at a huge distance and it is not going to be cheap no matter how you do it.

It's a time vs money situation. I would advise looking into a shuttle to El Calafate and then either a bus (connecting in Bariloche) or flight (connecting in BA). [If clever, you could get the shuttle to drop you off at the airport on the way.]
