Well that title should read - April 2009 Trip to Peru -- sorry, trying to do too much before leaving to visit family for the holidays.

You have very good photographic eyes, eenusa.

I have to say that the Pisac and Ollantay ruins look so much better in the Spring when they're green than they do in the Fall.

I like your people photography. I actually found the constant demand for tips to be annoying. One lady in Isla Taquile was downright aggressive demanding tips after I took some pictures of her sheep (I didn't even see her when the sheeps were heading my way.) After tipping for two pictures I stopped doing it and tried to capture unposed pictures/real pictures instead but most of them weren't very good.

Thank you both ... Peru is a very photogenic country.

Axel2DP - I hear you. Except for a few instances, I stayed away from people asking for tips for photos -- not that I minded paying a sole or two as I can appreciate why some of them do it; I just don't like posed people pictures.

I had a long lens and was able to take a lot of people shots from a distance without being intrusive. In other instances, I asked first and most people obliged freely ... I always showed the picture on the LCD panel and chatted with them (if you can call my mix of Spanish/sign language chatting).

I also believe that it helped that we had a local, Quechua-speaking guide with us most of the time. He was great at putting people at ease. Often, he'd use whatever camera I wasn't using to take snapshots of the same people, chatting and joking with them the entire time. Those people never once asked for a tip ... just a smile and a gracias seemed to be sufficient reward.
