Any Sights en Route from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales to TdP?

Jump to last reply

In late March, my spouse and I will travel from our hotel in Punta Arenas through Puerto Natales and the onward to our lodge in Torres del Paine National Park. Along the way, we want to stop at Seno Otway to see some Magellanic penguins, but something we read indicates that Otway is permanently closed because the penguins no longer inhabit there. (Truthfully, we are more interested in seeing the penguins at Isla Magdalena, but that trip seems to depart only by boat from Punta Arenas, and we don’t have enough time to take the morning tour and still arrive in TdP at a decent hour.) Another option is to stop at Estancia Lolita to see their animals. We are also interested in seeing sheep shearing, if that might be convenient and if it is the correct time of year. Any thoughts/advice is welcomed! Thanks in advance.
