Any lunch options at Salta airport?

We have a flight out of Salta at 2:55 PM (on a Saturday) and need to return our rental car before 1 PM when the agency closes for lunch. Lunch at the airport would seem to be an efficient use of our time waiting for the flight but I don't care to be unpleasantly surprised that there is no place for lunch at the airport. Does anyone know the food scene at the Salta airport?

There's always the option of stopping somewhere on your way to airport, getting food "para llevar" and bringing your own picnic lunch. That way you can have your choice of food.

We'll have to wait for Flintstones' final word on the subject, but, as far as I can remember, you certainly can have sandwiches at that airport, but maybe not a proper lunch.

Of course, you could do as karmalaw suggests.

Have a great time in our country.

No problem, you can buy yourself a nice lunch at the airport..

Gavin , there isn't much there.. but there is a small cafe with some sandwiches and lighter fare. And there is a magazine stand where you can get a chocolate bar. I would try to eat before going to the airport, and then just plan on a light snack there.

I know because we were stranded there for 9 hours , and the little cafe was just closing. I ate lots of potato chips and candy.

(Don't worry about being stranded... No planes were coming out of Buenos Aires, so we had to wait for that situation to clear up, before they could send a plane to Salta).

We arrived back home this morning and most of the laundry is done. We enjoyed an nice simple lunch at the Salta airport just before our fligh and has the pleasure of saying "no gracias" to the snack box on the Lan flight. When in San Lorenzo we di a lovely hike up the quebrada and saw lots of interesting birds that were new to us.

Welcome home Gavin. Sounds like you had a good time.
I'd love to have seen the birds. Maybe I'll see some on my upcoming trip to Argentina, altough I won't be going to the Salta area this time.

I'm glad you enjoyed your light lunch at the Salta Airport.

I think you can get something like asnack but not a "lunch" at least not the one we consider "a lunch" maybe a lomito ( beef sandwich) and something like that.
