AA airfare drop to Brazil
 

For anyone watching US-Brazil airfare this fall, I saw AA fares drop to about $100 less than others over the weekend. Today for my ATL routes it has dropped another $160, so RT from ATL to GIG or GRU or an open jaw is $580 all in for October. Shorter route than taking CO, but not the convenience of the nonstop on DL.

Unfortunately, the folks I am meeting up with haven't given me the exact dates we are getting together, so I am doing a 24-hour hold on what I think are most likely dates, including the day flight from MIA on a Sunday.

Yeh I agree... despite their bad press AA has the best prices and Ive used them a lot without any problems, I say give them a chance!

I couldn't raise my contacts in Brazil in time, so I missed the great fare this time. I could hold only one itinerary for 24 hours. I like this feature on AA. On DL you have to purchase, then you have 24 hours to ask for a refund.

Only problem I had was you can't hold overlapping itineraries or else the computer will cancel them. So I had to best guess which day/times to hold and was nervous that I would book myself to leave to early while trying to be frugal. As it turned out, I didn't hear from Brazil in time anyway.

Now if I can just pin them down a little further. I now know about the start day/time of my meeting so I can easily make sure I am there in time, but the end time on the last day is vague, so I think I'll stay over and see Sao Paulo that day so I don't end up running out on the meeting before it is over.

Forgot to mention--this drop in airfare over a period of 2-3 days did not show up in any of my alerts I have requested from sites such as Travelocity until after it was gone.

We were at a wedding in South America with about 35 from the USA. Everyone was complaining about how cramped the AA economy seats were; the first leg,the domestic flights to Dallas, had much more room than the international flights. Those who few LAN were very complimentary. The AA flights were on time, food was OK. Next time, I'll fly LAN.
