A Romantic Valentine's Dinner In BA?

February 14th, Valentines Day will be our second to last day of our month long stay in BA.

Any suggestions for a place to go for a romantic dinner?

Would "Te Matare Ramirez" be a good choice?

That restaurant just strikes me as totally cheesy. Puppets having sex on stage is not romantic to me..

There are two places that I love ... both for the service, food and atmosphere.
One is Amici Miei in San Telmo .. upstairs, Italian and wonderful music and nice atmosphere.
The other which is a bit more romantic is Sette Bacco in Recoleta... I will get the websites for you ..

Scarlett, Thank you for your candid review on "Te Matare Ramirez."

Both your recommendations sound like good possiblities.

Hola Condu,

We loved We loved Sirop for our romantic Valentine’s Day dinner last year. To tempt you, we had coups de champaigne, a delicious and nuveau picada then I had an amazing sole en croute and DH had an excellent steak. And oh yes, creme brulee for desert. The atmosphere was dim lighting and, I think, gentle music (not sure about that).

The Italian restaurants Scarlett recommends are excellent - and lovely and romantic. I think we will choose one for this coming Valentine's Day.

Ah, romantic dinners in Buenos Aires !

I will second Sirop. If you don't go for dinner, you can enjoy a very nice lunch ..

Yestravel, Scarlett, & Marnie, I plan to make the most of my first time in BA.
I checked out the three restaurants on line and they all sound charming!

Is Valentine's Day the big deal in Argentina that is is in N.America?

I was surprised to find it a major event with the young people in Vietnam when we were traveling there Feb 2009. They call it Sweetheart's Day.
Red roses are sold everywhere. Each one that is given is rewarded with a hug or a kiss.

No, I don't think so ... there is none of the over the tip commercialism when these holidays come along.
Flowers will be sold more than usual, but there are flower stands on the streets every day anyway .. There will be some sale signs in the shop windows but it has not been a big deal in my opinion.

Roses, yes , they sell roses but they do that every day anyway ..
