9 days with kids in Patagonia
Hello - we are a family of 4 (kids ages 8 & 12) that are planning a trip to Chile in Feb 2014. Please help us with an itinerary - we are flying in and out of Santiago. We would like a couple of days in Santiago and Valpariso, and then to Patagonia for hiking and sight seeing in Torres park.
Please recommend places to stay and best ways to get there. thanks

Sounds like a great trip. A day or two in Santiago and a quick trip to Valparaiso would be perfect. Then head south. Depending on budget there are some amazing properties in Patagonia. You need to fly to Punta Arenas and from there it is a 4-hour drive to The Torres del Paine National Park. Most properties included transfers in their packages these days. Here are some that I recommend; www.tierrapatagonia.com, www.explora.com, and if you are into "roughing it" a bit, www.ecocamp.travel (I stayed here, very cool). Tierra Patagonia is a new property. They were in my office last week and it looks amazing! And it is great for families. Tons to do down there.
You could also look into The Lake District, or Northern Patagonia - Puerto Montt / Puerto Varas with a Lake Crossing excursion to Bariloche in Argentina.
