6 nights in Bariloche area.....Help
 

looking again for some help with a hotel for us with our 3 teenage daughters, so need pool and we dont like to stay in a busy/tourist area..however some of the hotels on the Lake look wonderful and just far enough away from all the noise! Should we spend all 6 nights at the same place or split the time up and go to another area? thanks again for all your help.. this is over the xmas period.

We just spent Christmas in the area with our two teenagers (boy and girl) and we divided our time between Bariloche and Villa La Angostura, but you don't really need to do that. I just wanted to check out some different hotels. There is a lot to do in the area; we didn't even get a chance to do it all.

In Bariloche, you definitely want to stay out on the peninsula, not in the city itself. The higher the kilometer on the main road, the better location, IMO, it will be. We stayed two nights at Los Juncos Lake House. It did not have a pool, but was a really charming bed and breakfast that also served dinner if you wanted, which we did both nights and loved it. Decor is bohemian chic and tremendous personal attention from the owner and her staff.

In VIlla La Angostura, we stayed at Hosteria La Posada, and really enjoyed it. It has a fantastic spot on the lake with a great pool area. Very comfortable place. The rooms are not as updated as some of the newer places that share a similar location, but we were very happy there. If you do go there, it is definitely better to pay more for a lake view room. Our kids did not face the lake and there room was kind of dreary, but they didn't really care, since they were always on the computer or doing sudoku when in there....

In VLA, the other hotels that had a similar location were: Correntoso, Sol de Arrayanes, and El Faro. These would all be great choices as well.

thanks, so it wouldnt be too much to spend all 6 nights in Bariloche? I have been looking at sol del nahuel and llao llao (although that seems a bit too much of a resort)...

I think your daughters would probably like Llao Llao actually if you could swing it for at least part of the time. A lot to do there and a great pool complex. thanks, have checked the Llao and it starts at $400 a night so going to look at some cheaper options

Rent a private home for a lot less than a hotel.

I know and there are some wonderful houses, however I think my daughters would be happier in a hotel with a pool...lots more going on for them..

Some might argue the true beauty of Patagonia is in the surrounding areas, not at a hotel.

Hotel Cacique Inacayal has a nice new pool. Ask for rooms in the brand new wing.

There are many things to do, you shall be able to be busy for 6 nights. I would go for a smaller boutique kind of place, or inn with pool if you go in Summer. The Llao Llao sounds great but at the end of the day is a huge place , nice to go for lunch and play golf but to have real fun and be pampered I shall look for smaller places. Smaller place with quallity which there are more than one.
Among the many things to do, you can even go via catamarn plus buses in an orquestrated trip called Cruce de Lagos that takes you all over the Andes to Chile. It is wonderful if the weather is nice, if this trip takes to much of your time, them there are several one day options in catamarans that are amazing. Sometimes you can carry a bicycle ( renting) and you can
take the bicycle on board and then use them or go one way and come back by bicycle, like when they go to Arrayanes, the catamarn crosses the lake and you can ride the bicycle till you reach Villa Angostura. There are many things to do in Bariloche.
