4 weeks in Brazil. Solo. How does my itinerary look?

Hey guys,

Looking to travel to Brazil mid-January. I am going outside of my comfort zone here but looking to really experience as much as possible. I have Brazilian friends who live in São Paulo, Rio and Bahia, so they have suggested a few things but would be interested to hear other suggestions and if I can optimise the journey. I don't removing or replacing place if the overall experience will be better.
  • 3 Days - São Paulo > City Tour / Restaurants
  • 3 Days - Salvador (Staying in Barra) > Walking / Praia do Forte
  • 8 Days - Chapada Diamantina > Buracao / Fumacinha / Enchanted Pools etc
  • 2 Days - Salvador (Staying in Pelourinho) > Relax / Food
  • 4 Days - Ilhéus / Itacare
  • 5 Days - Rio > Dois Irmãos Hike / Tijuca Peak Hike / Sugarloaf / Corcovado
  • 4 days - Ilha Grande
  • 2 days - Paraty
Many thanks.

Looks like an exciting outdoorsy trip! I would just check your travel time between cities - I assume you are doing a combination of transport. Your friends will most likely give the best advice on where to see street samba/capoeira.

In Rio, if you're up for something a little more adventurous than a hike, try hang gliding (tandem) off of Dois Irmaos right onto the beach in Rio (if they are open). Great experience! This is not too far from Leblon which has a nice beach or neighborhood to hit a bar or grab a bite. Another favorite neighborhood is Santa Teresa, you can catch the public tram or "bonde" for a ride up to this hilltop village.
