Do you have all your lodging booked inside the park?
There are tour companies out of El Calafate to TdP which you could take directly from the park on their return to El Calafate. Always Glaciers is one but there are others. It costs more but I don't know that you will find a bus from Puerto Natales to El Calafate on the same day as leaving the park. The buses normally leave the park for PN in the afternoon. |
We did a similar trip (Santiago, Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales / W Hike, El Chalten, Buenos Aires).
Not sure if you're leaving room for BA at the end, but BA is a better city than Santiago in every way possible IMHO and I think you have way too long in Santiago. You can land in Santiago at 10am and see the highlights in the afternoon, and move on to Patagonia the next day. I'd consider Punta Arenas for the penguins if you have time. Feb 10 makes me a little nervous; what time do you plan to be back in Puerto Natales to catch the bus to El Calafate, when is the last bus, etc.? Also, in El Chalten, I'd recommend both the featured long hikes (Laguna de los Tres and Lagona Torre) if you can make room for them. |
All campsites are booked for the TDP trek. Typically I book on my own, make some major mistake but recover gracefully. That usually ends up being the adventure part for me.
