Do not "pick your tickets up in Cusco". Have whoever you used send you the ticket codes and print them out at home before you leave. This way you know that they have actually bought them for you. You don't want to hear the sad stories over on TripAdvisor about the people using a particular agency and finding out they have no tickets.

Thank you ,
I emailed responsibletravel company and Agnos said they were purchasing the tickets next week and would send us our confirmation code. Agnos has arranged our driver and coffee stay after we visit Machu Picchu and our ride to Cuzco, so I think we will be okay. Thanks for the heads up...and glad I contacted them and expressed my concern.

Next week? Good thing you are not going during a busy time.
BTW I hope you realize that you cannot hike Machu Picchu Mountain on the spur of the moment. Unless you buy the combination ticket, just as for Huayna Picchu, in advance. You would need to have arranged that with the travel agency. The last entry up to the mountain is at 11 am.
I suppose they didn't mention that?
I don't have as good a feeling as you do. There is no excuse for not having purchased your tickets. It sounds to me like they don't want to do anything until you pay them in full.
Did they not buy your train tickets either? Those you can do on your own, the website is not as much of a problem and if it is PeruRail will allow you to pay by fax.
BTW it is better not to reserve the train tickets through an agent. I heard some other sad tales of the ugly change fees that a couple were going to be charged when they realized there were later trains than the one the agent put them on. They wanted to have more than a few hours at the site.

I bought my own train tickets..
And yes, Agnos told me about buying tickets for climbing the mountain and we discussed our timing....
So all in all he did a fine job covering all of that material. We are being picked up by the hotel ..they will take the luggage and drop us off at the bus stop... And so we will have time to make it to the 11:00 deadline. I had previously discussed all of this with responsibletravel company.
We will complete our payment when we arrive in Cuzco and go over everything at their office.
I just asked them to purchase the tickets this week, I was trying to do it on line..I either couldn't do it or they were charging a fair bit more for the combine ticket.
Thank you for your concern
