NZ East Coast or West Coast South Island drive-help soon!
We are currently on N.I. deciding which route to take down to Queenstown area from Christchurch. We are driving up through the Mount. Cook route back from QT to Christchurch last part of the trip, so we will see the E. side of the alps.
Our dilema is they way down:
a. Christchurch to Te Anau via Dunedin (East Coast)
b. Christchurch to Te Anau via Fox Glacier (West Coast)
Which is more scenic?
need to decide in the next day or two. thanks

I fully endorse Melnq8's reply. As someone who travelled down the West Coast every year for at least 6 years I revelled in the difference each year of the scenery. Enjoy the ruggedness of the West Coast.
