Calling kerouac

We're in Paris next Friday, the 29th for a day trip from London on the Eurostar. We're looking for a good restaurant for a leisurely lunch somewhere central, preferably with a view (but not crucial).

Can you suggest somewhere with your knowledge of the city please?

You might like Chez Francis at the beginning of avenue George V facing the Seine. It has a good view of the Eiffel Tower.

If it were me, I would prefer a people-watching area, as this provides endless astonishment and mirth. Café Beaubourg facing the Pompidou Center would be good for this, as is Au Père Tranquille on rue Pierre Lescot facing the Les Halles demolition site. I also like Bistrot Marguerite along the Seine facing the Hôtel de Ville.

There are some beautiful views along Quai Saint Michel facing Notre Dame or at Place Saint Michel, but I would be wary of the places being mediocre tourist traps.

Since I can also think of another 50 places, better to stop here and let other people start piling on their suggestions.

Thank you very much for those, we'll work on them. Maybe you ought to list the others for everyone else!

kerouac, we opted for the Bistro Marguerite and had a really good lunch there.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Yes, it's quite pleasant with its hardwood floor and somewhat dated atmosphere. I think it's even better on a rainy day, but that's just me.
