Hotels: Milan,Venice,Florence,&Rome

Hi Everyone,

My husband & I have been tentatively booked into the following 3 & 4 star hotels for our October trip to Italy. As a couple of them are near train stations, I'm a little uneasy about them and wonder if any of you have stayed at any of these and what your opinion might be. We want to be as comfortable and quiet in or as near the town centers as possible.

Milan: Hotel Doria Grand
Venice: Locanda Remedio
Florence:Hoel Rivoli
Rome:Hotel Ranieri

Thanks for your thoughts.

The first thing I'd do is check them on www.tripadvisor.com, if you haven't already.

Locanda Remedio is fortunately nowhere near the train station. It's in a gorgeous location at the border of the Castello and S. Marco districts, just a few steps from the apartment that I'm usually renting in Venice. (Of course, it doesn't have "my" canal view since it's also nowhere near a canal!) And it's definitely near the center: 200 metres from Piazza S. Marco!

We have not stayed at the Hotel Rivoli. We stay at the Porta Faenza Hotel which is close to the train station. We have never had a problem and like the location.

There may be locations on the other side of the train station where I would not want to stay.

I mapped the hotel and it looks okay to me and the hotel has very good reviews.

Hotel Ranieri would not be considered central by most people as it's not within walking distance of most things you want to visit.
