MOVING TO DALLAS AREA: Plano, McKinney or Frisco?

My friend is relocating to the Dallas area with two small children and wants to make sure she is in the best area for schooling. Her boys will begin kindergarten and 5th grade next school year.

The areas they are considering are Plano, McKinney or Frisco, which area would you recommend and why?

Thank you,

In general, Plano and Frisco are good school districts. However, for Plano, I would look to the actual elementary school to confirm. All my friends in these two areas send their kids to public schools.

I don't know about McKinney.

HOWEVER, where will the parents be working??? Definitely have them look into the traffic situation to the office from these areas.

This will help you find the school rating by campus.

Frisco is far from downtown Dallas, McKinney is farther than Frisco -- it's not a suburb or exurb, it's a completely different place. If they want to live far from the city, fine, but Allen is closer than McKinney.

If the parents are working downtown or within the LBJ loop, they should look at Richardson near the Dallas border and Lake Highlands (areas in the Richardson ISD only) because that's usually closer than Plano and the schools are better than Dallas ISD.
