15-20 days in South America - what would you do???
Hi all,
I have time from around Dec 20-Jan 10 to visit South America. I am having a hard time figuring out what to do. Here are some questions -
- Take a cruise, an escourted trip, or do some cities by myself? All three sound good to me.
- Which cities/sites are a must-see? How much time in each place?
- What is over-rated?
- If I go to Machu Picchu, should I do the 4 day hike, the 2 day hike, or take the train up? -- Is the hike really worth it or do you think as long as you see Machu Picchu, it doesn't matter how you got there? Anything special about the hike?
- Take a 3-day Galapagos tour? Worth it?
- There are some cruises that go from Rio to Santiago. Some even go as far south as deception point near Antarctica. Are the scenery really worth taking a cruise?
Any itinerary suggestions?
Let's keep the money part out of this for the sake of discussion.
I've never been south of Mexico and am a female in my early 30s and will be traveling alone. I'm really really open to anything, thus the open-ended questions.
thanks!
