Day trips from Prague?
We'll be in the Czech Republic for next week and are scheduled for six days in Prague. I think that might be a bit much. Has anyone suggestions for interesting day trips no more than an hour or two by train or bus from Prague?

We are going to be in Prague for 5 days in September. As such we haven't been yet but by the by, we are going to day trip to Kunta Hora and Karlstejn Castle. We would also love to see Karlovy Vary. We are spending 2 nights in Cesky Krumlov but if you aren't we hear its fantastic.
Just some ideas for you to google.

I'm researching for a future trip and found that Kutna Hora is about 1.5 hours and Telc is 2 hours. Both are on my wish list to see.
The first time I went to Prague we went to Karlstejn castle, about an hour away but I wasn't thrilled with it. I was there for 6 days and thought it was 1 day too many so a couple of day trips would be good.

If possible I would do less time in Prague and try to spend two nights in Cesky Krumlov. It is
a not to miss fairy tale place with an interesting and furnished castle. We used www.mike-chauffeur.cz from Prague to CK
and out of CK into Germany. His company has been recommended by other Fodorites and also Rick Steves.Have a good trip.

You could do it on your own or as an organised day trip.
The Bone Church at Sedlac is both gruesome and facinating. The Italian Court Building fantastic and St Barbaras's cathedral is lovely and has some unusual murals.

Cesky Krumlov is very nice and would make a nice two day trip. I also second Karlovy Vary - a lovely spa town. If you rent a car, it could be combined with Marianske Lazne (Marienbad), nearby and could be done in a day trip. I agree that Karlstejn is not such an exciting castle, but Konopiste is very nice and an easy half-day trip from Prague.
