Tram Snooze #6969 - World's Longest Trams On World's Busiest Tram Lines
The world's longest trams, a six-section monster 54 metres long have taken to the streets of Budapest.
the Combino trams from Siemens are to be used from last spring on lines 4 and 6 - these run a semi-circular route over Budapest's Grand Boulevard - these trams lines are reputed to be the busiest surface-running lines in the world, carrying 9,000 passengers an hour in peak periods and 200,000 passengers a day! Vehicles at peak times run just one minute apart. Thus the need for the monster trams.
Before the new mega trams were ordered there was a lively debate about whether to built a metro line over this route - the decision was to upgrade the tram lines.

They are making this line handicapped accessible and will have new trams...there was an article how some of the old ladies will miss the old line because it was a "bumpy ride"...thought that was humorous!
