Lodging in Maine - Oct

Planning a trip to Maine in early Oct. Flying to Boston and driving up the coast. Ultimate destination is Acadia. Any thoughts on places to stay? Should we plan for a day or two on the southern coast (say Edgecomb) or just plan on spending all our time in Acadia/Bar Harbor.

Many thanks to all who take the time to respond.

White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport is outstanding.

Arrows Restaurant in Ogunquit is also outstanding but the restaurant at WBI is truly outstanding.

Hi tomms,

I have yet to make it to the Acadia/Bar Harbour are but I have spent some time on the southern coast and I would definitely check it out...that way you can get the feel for both regions.

Enjoy your trip, Maine is sooo beautiful and you'll be there for the prime leaf peeping season! Awww I'm jealous lol!!

We stayed two nights last month at the Welch House Inn in Booth Bay. It is a 1889 shipbuilder's house that sits high on a hill near the harbor. We were lucky to be there on the 4th of July and watched the spectacular fireworks in the bay from the window or our room. The friendly couple that owns it goes out of their way to make sure you have a nice stay. They serve a wonderful breakfast inside or outside on the patio complete with fruits and my favorite, chocolate chunk scones or coconut muffins. They change the menu daily. Google it and you will see pictures of the differant rooms. Highlight of our trip!
