A Kenyan Wilderness Diary

Hi -

I am new here at Fodor's and thought I would just introduce myself.

My name is Tanya. Kenya has been my home since....forever.

My husband Ian and I live in a magical place bordering the Tsavo National Park, with only lions and elephants as neighbors...anyone wishing to travel to Kenya can get a taster of our wonderful animals, birds and plants through my online photo-journal which I call my Wilderness Diary:

http://www.wildernessdiary.com

I'm not in the travel business, but nevertheless would like to say that Kenya is a great safari destination - please come!

You might ask what I do for work in this remote corner of paradise:

I work with the African Environmental Film Foundation - we produce educational films about diverse environmental and wildlife issues in Africa, narrated in African languages and distributed free of charge across the continent.

Looking forward to "meeting" everyone here,

Tanya

Poa Tanya!

I sent you and e-mail a couple hours ago. More importantly; I sent you money for your wonderful projects!

I previously saw your thread on Safaritalk, http://tinyurl.com/5aqn4w and meant to come back and donate, when I saw your note on Nyamera’s thread earlier today that reminded me to do so.

You don’t know me but I said I was from the *kikwayakwaya* forum; a fusion of Fodor’s n’ Safaitalk as its roots are from Safaritalk. I needed something to go with my salty vocabulary.

I still plan on signing up Matt!

Karibu Sana Tanya! Den

Atravelynn, have you noticed our fun kikwayakwaya vocabulary is spreading? Cheka cheka cheka!

I will be reading all of your information in your blog and website in more detail soon. Asante

Thanks to Den aka Denbasking for contributing $50 towards the work of the African Environmental Film Foundation. We recently ran an Appeal to help fund DVDs of our educational films about conservation issues to be used as prizes for kids participating in an environmental awareness award.

If anyone else is interested in learning more about our work in the field of environmental and conservation education, please take a look here: http://www.aeffonline.org - we have recently reorganized our website so that our latest news comes up on the landing page - heading that page today, there's a great story sent in from our film crew at the coast, covering marine issues - with some fascinating turtle photos - go take a look!

Thanks again, Den...your support is appreciated...

For anyone who contributed to our recent appeal to provide educational DVD prizes to the kids participating in the environmental awareness awards run by the Giraffe Center here in Kenya, please read our report and view photos of the day here:

http://africanenvironmentalfilms.squ...rding-day.html

Thank you again for your support, and for helping to make this happen.

Hi! I just got the opportunity to see in person some of the filming that the AEFF are doing at the moment. Some brilliant contributions towards the education of people that is going to be necessary in the future of conservation to make people understand. They already have made about 12 or so films and is not your atypical happy happy Nat Geo moments. It's more directed towards conservation through education.

AEFF's latest project is being filmed in the Mara conservancy. In this regards, I had the opportunity of meeting Mr.Simon Trevor and his contribution towards conservation is commendable.
