My sister and I are on a 2 week train trip in Austria, with a side-trip to Fussen from Innsbruck. We fly out of Milan, so planned on going from Fussen to Bolzano, then on to Milan. Although it’s not far in distance, the bus and/or train takes about 6 hours. Does anyone have a suggestion for something we are missing, or another way to go? I’ve been looking for even a private driver,, but so far that looks very expensive. Thanks for any help

Trains from Innsbruck south into Italy stop at Bolzano, so there are numerous direct options throughout the day.

The problem is your side trip to Füssen... so you'll need to get yourself back to Innsbruck somehow..
An option might be a day trip from Innsbruck to Füssen - organized tour, or rental car, private driver. Sorry, but I can't offer any specific options there.

Could you visit Fussen before Innsbruck? Innsbruck to Bolzano is just over 2 hours . Otherwise, I don't see a way to avoid the 6+ train ride Fussen-Bolzano.
