travel trip to Spain over the holidays for active family

My family is thinking about going to Spain for the holidays (Christmas/New Years) for 10-12 days. We have 2 teenage girls. We would love any tips on where to go and if a trip to Mallorca would be worth adding on at that time of year. We want to combine an educational experience with some active adventure.

Spain is large and varied and your question broad. Have you read other posts, looked on the internet, etc, to get some idea of which part you'd like to visit and what sort of things you'd like to see/do? Most would head to the south at that time of year.

I know this is super vague but I recall reading about a cycling trail in Andalusia (the green trail comes into my head) which you could try to find. Maybe also look into hiking in the Alpujarras but it could be cold at that time of year.

I was thinking to head south that time of year also. Better weather. Andalusia in general would be nice. And it has a good balance of history and culture with natural landscapes. With 10-12 days, you could base yourselves in 2-3 places.
