Maui day trips in August

Maui day trips in August
Our rough plan for Maui later this summer is 4 nights in Lahaina or Kaanapali, two nights in Hana, and then probably 4 nights in Wailea. Part of the reason to stay 4 days in West Maui is to be close to the ferry for day trips to Molokai and Lanai (figuring that we can always make the drive back to Lahaina from Wailea if we think we missed something else we wanted to do there.) Can anyone advise on the difference between visiting those Molokai and Lanai, the best things to do each place if you just have the day, and if you could only choose one - which one? Thanks!
