Montana Trip Planning help needed

I need help from Montana lovers!
We are planning 7 day trip to Montana. We plan to spend two days in Glacier National Park and have 5 days to explore other places. Please help me decide where should we drive what all we can not miss. Our 15 year old son with be traveling with us. We have not had much time to do any research and I am always grateful for the advice I gather from this forum, so reaching out to you all.
Thank You in advance!

What are your interests?

You'll need reservations to drive the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier this summer https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvis...ketedentry.htm

Do you have flights (what airport) and a rental car booked (there's a rental car shortage this year) yet?

Depending on where else you go a stop by Garnet for a couple of hours provides nice break from all the driving:

My favorite lodging place on the west side of Glacier is the Meadow Lake Resort. We enjoyed a small condo with a hot tub but there are many other good choices. It is surrounded by a golf course.
If you go to the east side, on the west end of Browning is the museum of the High Plains Indians (mostly Blackfoot). Try to make it to Two Medicine as well.
How are you getting there? What month? Expect to see snow at the side of the roads until early July in the shady spots.

I'm not sure where your flying into but if it's Bozeman I make my way down through Yellowstone Park then spend some time in Jackson Hole. Jackson is about 4.5 hours south of Bozeman.

I visit that part of Montana every year. Late August/Labor Day Weekend is always a tossup in terms of air quality and visibility due to the ever-increasing severity of fire season in western Montana. Mid to late July is a fantastic time to visit, IMO. With Glacier, you're going to have crowds all summer, and it's partly because most of the Going to the Sun Road is closed for most of the year. If you really want to escape the crowds, mid to late September before road closures.
