Need Help planning Fall trip in vermont

Hi.

I have never been to vermont and need help to plan my trip. I have three days i.e Friday, Saturday and Sunday to go from Boston to vermont and be back. I want to explore the best of vermont and heard a lot about route 100. Can you please tell how can I cover the best of it. I also want to spend a day soaking the fall in a quaint beautiful city and exploring the quaint, vintage art shops and indulge in some local shopping. Along with shopping, I also want to go to a little hiking upto some waterfall. Can somebody please help me plan my trip. I am planning for the dates of 16,17 and 18 October.

I can't help you with Vermont, but here's an option in western Mass.

This is very close to the quaint New England towns of Great Barrington and Stockbridge. The latter is home to the Normal Rockwell museum.

Bash Bish falls is a nice 2mi round trip (1m each way) hike in the Berkshires.

You'd also be close enough that you could drive up to southern VT one of the days.

Check to see if you will be allowed in VT. We live in NH and the recent rise in covid cases has put our county on the banned in VT list. You can probably get away with driving around VT but probably won't be able to find a hotel room.

J62's suggestion sounds good to me. Colors are already past peak in the Concord NH area but still pretty. Should you decide on NH, Portsmouth NH might be good. Quaint shops, great restaurants, nice scenic drives. My favorite is to start from Prescott Park and drive rt 1B out thru New Castle. Then you can find your way to 1A to drive the coast route past the beautiful mansions in Rye. The leaves will probably be peak on the coast for next week. If they are running the inland rivers cruise, that would be a great way to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Here's the VT travel restrictions map. https://accd.vermont.gov/covid-19/re...s-state-travel

Currently anyone traveling from the Boston area is required to quarantine, so it looks like you can't go to VT. It is updated every Tuesday and I would expect there to be more red with the update today, not less.

This is probably too late to be of much use, but as dfrost and J62 have noted, VT has very strict quarantine restrictions. The current map is not showing many new green areas and has more orange and red counties. You can now see the October 13 update if you click the link above.
