Croatia 2+ weeks - help needed
Hi! I’m planning a trip to Croatia in October for 2-3 weeks. I’m looking to build an itinerary that includes staying in places where we can relax, enjoy nature/scenery, maybe cook in, etc, but then also includes places where we can wander around cities, taking in the sites and culture, enjoying good food etc. I’d prefer to minimize the amount of changes of stay so we don’t feel like we are “on the run” the whole time. While not an absolute, ideally it would be great to be somewhere at least 4 days at a time. Any suggestions of an itinerary (and even great places to stay) that accomplishes these things? We don’t need 5 star hotels. Our main preference is safe and clean, yet comfortable, accommodations. Hoping to find some good deals during this slow travel time.
Thanks !!
Thanks !!

You need to realise that Croatia has been taken off the safe travel list by a number of countries recently, notably UK, on covid-19 fears. While there is as yet no restriction on US travellers (I assume you are from US), things can change quickly and unpredictably and possible second wave in October, which can lead to lockdowns in Croatia, now only a few weeks away (your plan is to travel this year?) Lack of tourists from other countries means closure of hotels, restaurants and other tourist facilities, which is again unpredictable. Frankly, planning a European trip this year is fraught with difficulties and uncertainties and most people have postponed their plans to next year or 2022.

AdelGilo79 has some good suggestions. Dubrovnik is very quiet and you can find good deals there, plus enjoy that city without the masses they usually have. You might consider getting a car, you can go to Korcula that way and maybe do a day trip to Mljet from there. Then on to Split where you can visit Hvar as a day trip. Sibenik and Krka National park could also be on your radar. From there to Zagreb, with a stop in Plitvice National park. If you have three weeks you could also visit Istria.
The islands will be very quiet with many businesses already shut for the season, but if you want to cook in, this will not be a problem. You might check out a good guidebook to see what looks interesting to you.
