Covid Test for AK Travel
We have a trip planned to AK arriving on July 2. We know that we cannot get a test within the required 72 hour period so would have to get a test at the airport. Can anyone shed light on the procedures? The plan was to spend one night in Anchorage and then set out the next day for a multiple day float on the copper river. Do they make you stay in one location until results are in? Do they track you? Trying to figure out if we can pull this trip off or if we need to delay it to next year. Any guidance or experience with people traveling with the new rules in place? We don't want to get there and find out we can't do the rafting trip. Appreciate any assistance!
Just adding while we can be tested with the 72 hour period, we live in AZ and they are saying it's 7 -10 days for results and that you must be symptomatic or exposed to be tested. We have also found a testing site near where we plan to raft that can give us a test the next morning with rapid results so that we can ensure we are negative for the guides on our trip. Doing everything we can to be safe and still have the trip we planned.

We. recently got tested at a local CVS and had the results back within 40 hours. Insurance covered it, but the cost to them was $39 so even if we have to pay out of pocket next time (eg for travel to another state) it would not be excessive.
So although you say you cannot get tested in the 72hr window, unless you are literally locked up somewhere I would do whatever it takes to get that test and be sure to buffer enough time to wait for results. The 40 hrs we got was faster than we expected but may have been just luck.
The state of AK may not track you but the rafting company may say “ no state ok, no raftie”
