Charleston, South Carolina-things to do?
My husband and I will be in Charleston for 2-3 nights the weekend of March 7th. Any recommendations of where to stay? Historic district, downtown? Also any ideas of sights to see, places to go would be appreciated. We may or may not have a car but are willing to walk.

Harbor View Inn was very nice. Near the Historic District.
P.S. This thread will probably get moved to the travel section.
Then you will get more answers.

There is another thread in the United States forum that describes a recent trip to Charleston and has comments from other posters.

We loved Charleston. We didn't;t have a car and walked everywhere. We stayed a bit out of the historic district and it was fine for us. I see no reason to get a cart. We enjoyed strolls through the historic district, a trip out to Fort Sumter, visiting some of the historic homes and churches and delicious meals - some of the best do its I have ever eaten! We also enjoyed all the craftspeople that were set up in various places. We spent two full days there, three n nights, and we covered a lot of ground.
Here is a link to my blog with loads of pics on what we did and ate!

There are probably close to a jillion threads about things to do in Charleston that you might do a search for.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned recently is the Hunley exhibit--the Civil War submersible that has been found and preserved.
