Northern Lights in Finland

I'm planning a trip to Finland for early February in hopes of seeing the northern lights. We are flying into Helsinki (from the US) and would like to spend a few nights up in Lapland. Any suggestions on the best places to stay to see the lights or must-dos?

Thank you in advance!

Before you commit on any specific location, I would check what else you could do there, especially during the short days.
Weather is unpredictable, and the biggest obstacle are cloudy nights.

If you're into winter sports, I'd pick one of those locations to ski cross-country for a few days, for example:

These places also offer any kind of "Lapland" activities and excursions, that can keep you busy and entertained during the day in case you cannot do cross-country skiing (which, by the way, is very easy to learn).

If you prefer to stay in a real city, you could go to Tromsö.
Which, I know, is in Norway but the northernmost settlement in Europe which qualifies as "city".

I went to Christmas in Santa Claus village in Ravoniemi in 2015, I had a fabulous atmosphere and loved it, but I was unlucky with the northern lights, apparently because of the weather I could not see it (
