travel from airport to Amsterdam

We are looking for two people to travel from airport to Notting Hill Hotel, near the Rijksmuseum. We need a very reliable trip on a Sunday morning to meet a plane, but on arrival we can be a little more relaxed and travel by a perhaps cheaper method.

Last I heard there were four trains an hour from Schiphol to Centraal Station and take a tram from there; other methods such as a shuttle might cost more and involve less hassle.

If going by train + tram you may want to take train to Amsterdam WTC-Zuid station and get direct tram from there - lots less hectic than going to Centraal Station by train + tram. Best way by public transit I believe. Though airport buses - check above - may take you direct to near hotel. Trains and trams run frequently on Sunday mornings.

If you really want to get off "near the Rijksmuseum", hop onto bus #397 (which used to be #197) from the Schiphol airport 6EU one way. https://www.connexxion.nl/amsterdam-...t-express/1241
Relevant stops along the way : https://www.connexxion.nl/Amsterdam%...20Express/1242
Your hotel may be "near the Rijksmuseum", but still a quite a trek from the bus stop. The new metro gets you closer and the even closer using a tram. Your hotel should be able to tell you how to get there.

I would ask your hotel for their recommendation.

I used Connexxion as mentioned in post #5. Worked like a charm. I didn't want to have to deal with the train & train station then walking to my hotel, as a 1st timer.

The new Metro runs right in front of the Rijksmuseum like the tram does?

Especially for an address near Vondelpark.

Nope. Vijzelgracht is the nearest station. Not really near Rijksmuseum

Your hotel is not that near the Rijksmuseum. Trams go to Frederiksplein which is only about a 2 or 3 minute walk from the hotel.

In that case a good option is to take the train from Schiphol to Amsterdam RAI and take the #4 tram from there. You'll see a lot of 19th century Amsterdam and there's a convenient stop at Frederiksplein. The first bit after Rai goes through the neighbourhood where Anne Frank lived before the Frank family went into hiding at Prinsengracht.
