Padova + venice questions
Hi !
Our trip is near and we are getting excited !
Quick summary :
Arrival july 8 in rome (5 nights)
July 13 Florence (and daytrip to Siena) (4 nights,)
July 17 Venice (3 nights)
july 20 flight back to Montreal
My wife have a friend who lives in Padova. They propose us that:
Leave Florence around 8:30 (we already have our train ticket for Venice, so we would just get out at Padova train station instead of Venice), they get us by car at train sataion around 10:30. We stay for 3 hours in center of Padova, get some quick bites. In the afternoon they take us to the Colli (???) and enjoy a good meal with nice view (they say), ans around 19:00 they get us back to train station so we can go in Venice.
In the evening we take posession of our airbnb, and we will be too tired to do anything I guess....
In venice we have an Airbnb in cannaregio (near calle pistor, Anconeta bridge).
Questions:
1) What do you think of that plan ?
2) Is there many trains between Padova and Venice ?
3) With our Airbnb location would we need a vaporetto pass ?
4) Any good restaurants recommandation not too far from our lodging ?
With that plan i'm thinking we should have add a night in Venice and cut one from Florence, but it's too late. We cant add any day to our lodging in Venice (it's full) and remove a night from Florence would cost us money, so we will have to stick with it.
Big thanks !

Plenty of regional trains Padua to Venice Santa Lucia where you can get vaporettos to near your hotel. Ususally a pass is best as you will have to take boats to get to Venice main island and a few single rides make the pass a good deal. those Padua-Venice trans are regional trains just buy few-euro ticket at station.

If you don't have too much luggage, you can walk to your apartment instead of taking a vaporetto. It is about a 10 minute walk. In that neighborhood it will definitely be better to have a vaporetto pass. But if you walk to your apartment you can pick up a two day pass the following day, rather than a three day pass.
There are a lot of trains. Check trenitalia.com for the schedule.
In your neighborhood is a very good restaurant, La Columbina. It is not cheap, but it is good. Another excellent restaurant close by is da Rioba.

Take your day trip from Florence to Siena on Sunday or Monday when many of the main sights in Florence may be closed. Get entry tickets/reservations for any sight in Florence that offers or requires them. Uffizi, Accademia, Brancacci, Bargello, etc.

Great plan from your friends, the Colli Euganei is a few pimples on the very flat Po plain and when it is hot on the plain the hills (colli) often have some cool breezes and great views onto the Lagoon. I'd go for it. (there is a good restaurant on the top of the hills but restaurants change but the view stays the same)
