Tuscon, Scottsdale or Mesa

I am traveling at the end of March with my 20 year old daughter. We would want to enjoy a nice pool and do some hiking. Do you have any suggestions between Tuscon, Scottsdale or Mesa and also any nice hotels that you would recommend. Thank you.

I love Tucson because it is smaller than the Phoenix metro area and easier to get to sites. Love the Senora Desert Museum and a number of other sites there.

I would recommend Tucson as well. It is a beautiful city with lots of charm, has a lovely mountain range and nice hiking trails.

I've never been to Mesa but I go to Tucson every year in March and while I love it, there have been quite a few years that it was too cool to enjoy the pool. A lot of people don't realize that the elevation of Tucson provides weather that's a bit cooler in general than Scottsdale.

it’s been a warm winter; we’ve been here in Tucson for a month and most days the pool we belong to is busy.

Stay in Scottsdale and do a couple of day trips to Sedona.
Lots of fantastic 4-5* resorts..
Its high season now till summer.

Hiking in Boynton Canyon in Sedona, Cave Creek outside of PHX, Four Peaks, Bush Highway by Saguaro lake.

Don't know your budget and if you have SPG points that you could use as points & cash for your room, to offset the pricey room rate.

Fairmont Princess, Weston Keirland, Four Seasons, Boulders, Talking Stick, Sanctuary..

Sedona to stay a night or two...Sedona Rouge, Enchantment, Amara, BW Arroya, Kings Ransom (Elote cafe for dinner is one of the best Southwest restaurants in US).

Have fun!

I would ask the owner (if a private home) or the hotel if the pool is heated. I would imagine a hotel would have a heated pool and the weather will be nice and sunny.

Check my blog for things to see and do around Tucson and southern Arizona. And note the spelling of TuCSon.

Scottsdale has a lot to offer. End of March will be a nice time. Any interest in spring training? You could probably catch a game while you're here.

Agree about Sedona as well. Great hiking up there. Make sure you take plenty of water wherever you hike.

The Lodge on the Desert in Tucson is wonderful, close to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum-world class zoo and botanical garden, Saguaro National Park and Biosphere 2, at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, about an hour outside of Tucson and fascinating

Mesa is a huge suburban sprawl so could not imagine staying there.

As far as the suggestion to do a couple of day trips to Sedona from Scottsdale- it is a two hour drive each way. I did it yesterday.
