Best Cruise times for Australia and New Zealand
When is the weather best for visiting Australia and New Zealand? Is there a time of year when the seas are calmer than others in general?

We've cruised out of Australia several times to the Pacific, NZ, northern Australia and in many days at sea, have only been caught once in a storm. If you are planning to cruise to NZ from Australia, you will find that almost all the cruises sail during the summer months, not many cruises out of Australia during the winter months.

We embarked the Ovation of the Seas Dec. 7 which is practically summer there. Technically it begins Dec. 21 but anyway we were fine. The cruise went to NZ and our weather was in the 70’s to 80’s in Oz and a little less in NZ. We did have to divert our course to avoid a storm so we missed cruising thru Milford and Dusky Sounds but had no choppy seas at all.
