UPDATE: Thank you for all the great responses! Turns out US customs does not restrict the amount of wine/Champagne you bring back from Europe, if the AC is under 20% (which most of the French wines and champagnes were), as long as it's not so many that it falls into the "distribution" category. I brought 4 wines and 3 champagnes back - stuffed in my boots and wrapped with my socks!! I checked a very light suitcase on the way over and was a pound under the limit on the way back! Lol! And it all made it through customs intact and accounted for. Thanks again everyone!
