Dublin for St. Patricks Day
My boyfriend and I traveling to Ireland for St. Patricks Day. We land in Dublin at 5am on Friday and plan to spend 2 nights. We have been looking into accommodations and everything in the city seems very expensive for this weekend. Any cheaper recommendations for places to stay outside of the city that wouldn't be too much of a trek by either car or taxi? We figured we won't spend much time in the room so we aren't as picky on where we stay because once we travel other parts of Ireland we may want to splurge. Thanks in advance!

airbnb north of the city, Malahide area. I was looking south of the city and as long as it is on the dart line it won't be hard getting in and out of the city. Even Greystones would be ok. Fun times.

Your question is useless because "expensive" and "cheap" are ambiguous.
What are you looking to spend per night?

It's a holiday of sorts, a very long weekend, Thursday 15th – Monday 19th March, but not a long tradition in Ireland - http://www.stpatricksfestival.ie/info

I do not recommend staying in Dublin for St Patrick's day. It gets very drunken, messy, violent and horrible. Book accommodation somewhere in the suburbs (Malahide is a good tip, Howth would also be nice), take the DART into the city centre to see the Parade in the morning and then get out as quickly as you can before the mayhem starts.
