Are taxis available at the Pacific Central Rail Station in Vancouver, BC or do they need to be called?

Can taxi's be hailed on the street in Vancouver?

Never used a taxi in Vancouver, I found the public transport to be fine.

Yes, I think there are taxis waiting at the train station, but not too numerous. We have visited Vancouver several times, once by train and the rest by air, and have never used a cab except on arrival and departure when we have baggage to schlep. Can’t recall seeing them cruise the streets but that may be because I never wanted to hail one.

There is a direct phone at the exit of the train staton to the cabs.
