Where to visit in Wadi Rum

Hi all,

I'm considering these three tour programmes:

http://www.bedouinroads.com/the-khasch-route.html

https://www.wadirumnomads.com/wadi-r...jabal-al-hash/

https://www.wadirumnomads.com/wadi-r...al-um-ad-dami/

In particular, for the second day I'm wondering whether to visit Jabal Um ad Dami or Jebel Khasch - they seem to be in the same area but which would you recommend?

We have been to Jabal Um ad Dami. It is a very beautiful area. I can't tell if you are planning to hike to the top. But my wife and I gave up the climb about 100 feet in. Obviously I have no idea of your hiking ability but this was much more of a scramble than a hike. She doesn't like scrambles. I don't like heights. The three kids went up and really loved it.

If you click on my name you will find a description of that day in our Jordan report.

PS we were supposed to go to Jebel Haash (different spelling but I think it is the same place you are talking about) the same day but decided to go elsewhere in the desert. Our company had described the two places like this:

"Jebel Haash is not as steep as Um Ad Dami or as high, but many people argue the view is more beautiful.”

Thanks, I had a read of your trip report - we'll also be staying in the Al Rashid in Petra! Sounds like the restaurant is worth a visit

Out of interest, which company did you go with at Wadi Rum?

This is our plan for the trip (again, just in case you have any comments)

1 - Flight to Amman, arrive late
2 - Day trip to Jerash (Roman ruins), stay in Amman
3 - Amman to Dead Sea (9 am, 7JD) to Madaba (28JD)
4 - Madaba -> Wadi Mujib -> Karak Castle -> Dana (72JD)
5 - Dana to Petra (via Ma'an) (Petra by night 17JD)
6 - Petra (Petra by night)
7 - Petra
8 - Petra to Wadi Rum (6-8.30, 5JD)
9 - Wadi Rum
10 - Aqaba - Berenice Beach Club?
11 - Aqaba to Amman
12 - Amman to London, leave early

We went with Bedouin Directions. Great camping location but I think they all are.

I think I wrote in the report that Mehedi's wife was from London. I should send him an email to see if he has stuck to his pledge to never visit London. Too much commotion. That made us all smile.

As you may have seen we did not visit Amman or Aqaba. Other than that your trip is similar. Fast paced but I suspect you will love it. I am happy to see you are visiting Karak castle. The people depend so much on tourism and must be suffering.

Have fun.

Hi slquoue,
How was your trip? Could you please share your Petra to Wadi Rum experience. What company did you selected? how you got to/from the starting point of the tour?

Thank you!
