Barcelona - Budget Hotel & Area Recommendation
Hello My Fordite Friends ~
I need some major assistance in locating a Budget Hotel in Barcelona. I’ve spent my working hours trying to find the perfect budget hotel in the perfect area. Last time I was in Barcelona, I stayed in the Eixample area. I did enjoy it and really enjoyed the walking it allowed me. However, this time I’m travelling with a co-worker and he’s on a very tight budget. We want to keep the expense somewhere between $75 USD to $125 USD. The criteria is that it be centrally located for walking to various sites; provide in the immediate area restaurants, cafes, and entertainment; updated and/or as modern as possible; and no see-through bathroom and/or shower (appears that some of the hotels that I’ve search are now going frosted glass or even see-through bathrooms). Any suggestions? Any specific recommendations? It seems the longer I delay, the more the rates increase.
Thank you,

I've used to stay in the medieval and cutting edge Born district on my frequent Barcelona visits the past ten years, a cradle of Catalan identity and culture and close to "everything" (the beach, the Gothic quarter, the cathedral, the Ciutadella park, Placa de Catalunya, Las Ramblas etc. etc) and much more local atmosphere than in the Gothic quarter etc. Great tapas bars, restaurants, terraces, nightlife etc. http://www.barcelona-life.com/barcelona/born
We've stayed many times in Budget Hostal Orleans, basic hotel standard (praivate bath, tv, AC, safe, 24 h desk etc). Well within your budget and excellent location.

Check out the Violeta Boutique hotel close to Placa Catalunya, very conveniently located for the Aerobus and walking distance to the Ramblas and Gothic districts.

Is that $75-125 per person or total for the lodging?
Check www.apartur.com - have all sorts of price ranges for lodging.

Just to elaborate a bit. Hostal Orleans meet all your criterta, and about 90-100 USD for a double in high season.
The hostal is in a quiet place, but you are just meters away from some of the best tapas bars and nightlife in town, in and around the beautiful Passeig del Born: http://www.barcelonaturisme.com/wv3/...-del-born.html
Dozens of late night and very varied bars and music venues in the area, and fabulous cafés, terraces, tapas bars and restaurants such as Cal Pep, Xampanyet, El Tapeo and Barcelona classic Set Portes from 1836 right on your doorstep. http://blog.lifestylebarcelona.com/t...ea-of-el-born/
