Mid range hotel/lodge in Arusha

Can anyone recommend a mid range hotel/lodge in Arusha?

Something with a bit of character rather than modern would be nice.

Thanks!

Kath, I remember staying at Karama Lodge and Spa in Arusha, set on a hillside surrounded by a lot of greenery, the cottages were well appointed with its own wooden balcony and a great view. The lodge has a pool too.Quite liked it,but this was 5 years ago. Check for reviews. A lot could have happened in time...

The only drawback, I remember was the shower and Wc were behind a curtain ( not a door ) in an enclosure inside the cottage, compromising on 'privacy',not many people are comfortable with.

I second the nomination of Ilboru Lodge. The only drawback is its location, a good walk from "downtown" Arusha. You really need transportation. ZZ

Hi Kath I read your reply about Africa House, is there a reason not to stay there. I am looking for a place 1/14 to 1/16 and I was thinking of TEMBO. Did you see any places you wished you had booked? I dont want to spend $200 for Serena and my friends who stayed there weren't impressed

We had to add a day to the beginning of our trip in Feb2018 due to change in arrival flights to Arusha. We stayed at the Four points sheraton on points and were delightfully surprised. The hotel has undergone renovation, the lobby, restaurant, lounge, and rooms have all been updated. When we stayed they were renovating the pool area but we were only there for one night so we didn't mind. The room was modern and updated. The bed was very comfortable as was the shower/bath area. We enjoyed a drink in the lounge and ate tin he hotel restaurant, which served indian cuisine, and loved it. It was authentic and delicious. It was actually one of our best meals of the trip.
