Airport/hotel San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose en route to Yosemite

My daughter, husband and boys age 15 and 12 have a week booked at Yosemite and will be flying from St. Louis Friday 7/17 and leaving Saturday 7/25

Any thoughts on if one of these airports is better over the other considering where they are going and will be renting a car?

If they book the STL to SFO flight which is direct they will arrive at 7:35 pm

They will need a hotel for the Friday evening and prefer something with breakfast to get an early start on Saturday. Again will be looking closely at cost but want clean (don't we all).

Thoughts and suggestions welcome which I will pass on to her.

Sandy

Which ever offers the best routing and pricing. Also consider Sacramento or Reno. From Reno, they could include Lake Tahoe. Take Hwy 395 thru the eastern Sierra, visit Bodie, Mono Lake and go over Tioga Pass into Yosemite.

I'd also fly into SFO or SMF or Reno or SJC - whichever gets you the best fare/schedule. SMF would be the easiest drive, Reno would be the most scenic.

I would NOT stay in any hotel near OAK.

I like MichelleY's idea best. You'll have one stopover probably in SLC or PHX. The hotel rooms and rental car will likely be cheaper in Reno than the SF Bay area.
If you could get a cheap flight to Fresno (FAT), it would get you to Yosemite earlier. There are a couple of cheap places to stay in Oakhurst.
