need recommendation for restaurants in zermatt
we are going to be next month in zermatt for two nights. I have already made reservation for a dinner in Giuseppe and need another two lunch and one dinner. We are non ski so
only for places in zermatt village or in any of gornergrat bahn stations. We do not like meat too much and prefer Swiss (especially Rosti..) or Italian food (or any other good food..)
I would be very happy for a place with good atmosphere, nice view from windows, fireplace..anything nice for lunch/dinner..
Any recommendation?
I thought of: Walliserkanne, Schwyzer Stübli, Zermatterstübli, Riffelalp Resort 2222 (how to get there??) ....what do you think? any suggestions?

I skied to this restaurant for lunch: Chez Vroney/Findeln area. Beautiful views of the Mattahorn.
I see that you can take a walking trail, which I think is maintained in the winter, as well

I leave others to confirm the walking trail access

Thre are tons of restaurants in the village and many others ini the nature which can be easily reached by gondolas (Furi, Schwarzsee, Sunnegga, Blauherd, etc.) Others can be reached on well prepared winter hiking trails.

Pollux is right smack in the middle of the 'strip' in downtown Zermatt; we had lunch there, outside table, it was recommended by friends who were living in Switz as a good place for lunch/dinner/drinks. As we had brfst & dinner served at our hotel, we did not explore much at mealtimes. Pollux was good, with very nice atmosphere inside.

I have one for you. It has been a few years but our favorite restaurant in Zermatt is Le Gitan Grill Room in the Darioli Hotel. Nice setting, wonderful food. The meats are cooked on a charcoal grill built in to the front wall of the dining room. The owner serves wine from his own nearby winery. Highly recommended. Some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen was from various stages up the Klein Matterhorn. Even if you don't ski, take the cable car up there.

Definitely go to Walliserkanne - it's our all time favorite place to eat in Zermatt.
We also like The Spaghetti Factory in the Post Hotel, great pizzas.

To get to Riffelalp:
Take the Gornergrat cog train from Zermatt - get off at Riffelalp and walk 10 minutes to the resort

Best to combine this with the trip all the up to the Gornergrat

How can we go from train station to Rifflealp..e do not ski and not sure if 10 minutes walk in snow is the best thing to do - what about Riffelberg station - I understood that RESTAURANT RIFFELHAUS is right on the station and famous about their Rosti- am I right? Is it a better option? Should I make reservation?
Another question is which of the following ones need reservation for lunch/dinner at the high ski season:
- Walliserkanne
- schweizerhofzermatt
- ZE R M A T T E R S T ÜB L I
- restaurant-julen
- whymper-stube
- zermattbubble
- The Spaghetti Factory in the Post Hotel
too many choices...

Riffelap Resort and Restaurant Riffelhaus are two different places bat23 - you've mentioned both, which one are you interested in?
Riffelhaus:

Riffelap Resort:

Riffelalp Resort is an easy 10 minute walk from the Riffelalp station. The trail to the resort will be groomed and easy to walk on. If staying at the hotel they offer a porter service.
Riffelberg is the next train station after Riffelalp. The hotel/restaurant Riffelhaus is right there very close to the tracks.
This map might help you sort things out:

I've never made restaurant reservations in Zermatt, regardless of time of year. Why not wait until you get there and just wing it? Rosti can be found everywhere and I've never had a bad one.

There is a tramway line between Riffelap Hotel and Riffelalp railway station. I don't know however whether the tram runs in winter.
