La Paz Mexico in April -- accomodations

I am traveling to La Paz, Mexico in a few weeks. I have contacted El Moro, but the room that I requested was not available. I am checking with them regarding other rooms, etc, but have not heard back.

Does anyone have other accomodation suggestions? My requests for accomodations are: pool, kitchen facilities, king-size bed, child-friendly, not very big hotel within walking distance of town.

Thanks for help!
--Natalie.

I found La Paz a tricky town hotel wise. Especially if you want a pool. There a number of apartment type situations in town, but no pools. I would pursue Club El Moro and consider different rooms.

I'm sorry I don't know

I spent a lot of time researching hotels for my La Paz trip. The other places that looked nice are some of the hotels in downtown but none had pools. Generally speaking they were also more expensive than what I am used to for similar accommodations (in Puerto Vallarta).

Looking at casabuena. Anyone stayed there? Also, it looks to be a little ways from downtown. Does the malecon run the entire length of the city. Would it be preferable to stay closer to downtown. I also want to take spanish lessons at se habla, which looks to be downtown.
Thanks!

Will you have a rental car? If not, I would try to stay in or close to downtown. Even El Moro is at the very edge of town and was a bit of a trek each day into downtown (20 mins. or so).

I've heard from Baja B&B that they have availability, so I am planning to reserve there. They are located in downtown. Are you familiar with them?
Thanks!!

Sorry, no. Do they have a pool? That requirements is what was limiting the downtown suggestions for places I checked on when I was there.

theyde~~ as above, my tip would be contacting Club El Moro early on for a reservation. it's very nice and there's nothing else quite like it in La Paz. www.clubelmoro.com

natalietx~~ i'd love to hear how the language school part turns out!

Yes, Baja B&B does have a small pool. I agree -- wanting a pool has made it difficult to find a hotel.

I will post some comments when I return.

Sounds good. I'd be interested in knowing the names of the language schools and programs in La Paz, after your trip, or anyone else who's already done this/there. Gracias.
