11 days in Colombia
Hey all,
My wife and I will be visiting Colombia for 11 days from May 9-20 this coming year (We arrive late at night on the 8th and fly out early morning on the 20th).
After researching, I wish we had more time as the country looks like it has so much to offer. We visited some of the coffee zones in Costa Rica a few years ago so we aren't too worried about missing that section. We also would like to have a few beach days (hence the Santa Marta or San Andres sections). Unfortunately, 11 days is all we have so I have created the following two options for itineraries. Any feedback/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Option 1:
1 - Bogota full day
2 - Bogota – day trip to salt cathedral, evening flight to Medellin (704-802pm)
3 – Full day in Medellin
4 – Day trip to Guatape, overnight in Medellin
5 – Day in Medellin, late afternoon flight to Santa Marta (454-606pm)
6 – Bus to Palomino, beach day/float down river, overnight in Palomino
7 – Bus Palomino to Tayrona National Park return via speedboat (4pm) to Tangara, overnight S. Marta
8 – Day trip to Minca, overnight in Santa Marta
9 – Morning in Santa Marta, take shuttle from Santa Marta to Cartagena (23USD 4-5hrs), overnight in Cartagena
10 - Day in Cartagena
11 – Day in Cartagena, evening flight to Bogota (1025-1151pm), overnight in Bogota (airport hotel)
12- Fly home from Bogota
Option 2:
1 - Bogota full day
2 - Bogota – day trip to salt cathedral, evening flight to Medellin (704-802pm)
3 – Full day in Medellin
4 – Day trip to Guatape, overnight in Medellin
5 – Day in Medellin, late afternoon flight to Cartagena (606-709pm)
6 – Day in Cartagena
7 - Day in Cartagena
8 – Fly Cartagena to San Andres (1215-144pm)
9 – Day in San Andres
10 – Day in San Andres
11 – Fly San Andres to Bogota (725-929pm)
12 - Fly home from Bogota
The only other area I am disappointed in missing is Villa de Leyva. Any thoughts on that and if there is any way to squeeze that in or replace it somewhere?
Thanks in advance.

Despite warning you about the rainy season in Colombia, I am going to MDE on 7th and returning on the 18th (FF seats).
Not sure how things will play out as the rainy season has started in earnest with big floods in MDE. From what I've researche the north coast is somewhat less affected.
Did you decide to go after all?
